Preparing for the Sixth Form
The extended break between GCSE Examinations and the start of Sixth Form is an opportunity for students to reset and recharge before they start their A Level courses. Given the intense nature of the A Level curriculum, prospective WHSB Sixth Form students must prepare for the next stage of their academic journey. Here you will find details of a series of tasks that our experienced Heads of Academic Departments ask that you complete before the start of the Lower Sixth. By completing these tasks, you benefit from exploring the courses you have chosen to study and ease the transition from GCSE. Preparatory work is designed to help develop the skills you will need to hone quickly and ensure you hit the ground running. It is recommended that you space any preparatory work relatively evenly over the Summer holiday. However, it may be worth waiting to complete the bulk of the work until after GCSE Results Day and once you have confirmed your A Level course options. Please email SFPO@whsb.essex.sch.uk if you have any queries.
