Westcliff High School For Boys triumph at the National School theatre Awards

Following last year's success, Westcliff High School for Boys has triumphed yet again at the National School Theatre Awards (NTSA) winning a further two accolades with its 2025 production of "The Madness of George III" by Alan Bennett. Described in the NSTA’s review as "a magnificent mash-up of history's greatest hits" and "real greatness in school theatre", the production won Best Play, and Best Supporting Actor for Upper Sixth Student Ronnie, as one of the King's doctors. The awards were announced and presented at a glittering West End awards ceremony this week.

Mr Jeffreys, Director of Drama, describes the play as "An English comic masterpiece, sparkling with Alan Bennett's trademark wit and devilry”. Our students involved in the production, from Years 7 to the Upper Sixth, worked extremely hard exploring characters, scenes, and narratives allowing them to tap into their creativity and imagination. Winning these awards is such a significant external endorsement of the calibre of the work produced and we are extremely proud of their achievements.

Congratulations to our talented actors on gaining these national awards, and to Mr Jeffreys and his team for once again bringing extraordinary levels of skill and creativity to another outstanding production.
