Westcliff High School for Boys’ find success in the Anthea Bell Competition for Young Translators
Following Westcliff High School for Boys’ success in the Anthea Bell Competition for Young Translators last year, once again we are delighted to share with you the UK-wide success of seven of our pupils in the 2024 fourth edition of the Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators. Over 16,000 entries from across the country were submitted to this prestigious translation competition, run by The Queens College, University of Oxford.
Our Year 9 pupils Isaac and Dipo won both the East of England, and National Competitions (German Level 2), and Reuben and William won the East of England Competition and were runners up in the National Competition (Mandarin Level 2). Year 10 pupils Marcus and Troy were winners of the East of England and National Competitions (Spanish Level 3), with Abdullah winning the East of England Competition (Italian Level 3).
Well done to all our winners, and to all the pupils who participated this year. Our thanks go to Ms McKeown and her colleagues in the MFL Department for all their support and encouragement to the pupils.
