Sixth Form Geography students conduct four days of fieldwork and data collection

This month, as part of their A Level course and in preparation for planning their own Independent Investigation during the summer break, Sixth Form Geography students visited Chalkwell, Belfairs Park, and Spitalfields in East London to conduct four days of fieldwork and data collection. These trips enabled students to examine rivers and flooding, urban change and the public perception of it, and the management of physical and human environments.

The students are now able to demonstrate how they have engaged in essential geographical fieldwork and brought their own thinking, analysis and conclusions to the data that has been collected. Their results collected on physical and human geography topics can be used in their A Level coursework, accounting for 20% of the total marks awarded contributing to their overall grade.

We are grateful to Dr Shepherd, Head of Geography, and his colleagues for facilitating these fantastic trips which enrich our students’ learning.
